Louisiana Juridical Acts
In civil law society, a “Juridical Act” refers to a lawful act or expression of will intended to have legal consequences. In Louisiana, notaries are empowered to prepare and sign almost any juridical act. These include; Inventories, appraisements, and partitions, wills, matrimonial contracts, conveyances, and generally all written contracts.
Not all Juridical acts are are notarized. When a juridical act is notarized, it is considered a Notarial Act. However, there are certain Juridical acts that are required to be notarized and without the seal of a notary, are not considered valid.
